Abstract
In Nigeria, agriculture is a key sector in the Nigerian economy with the sector employing a good number of the people and also improving food security and development of the rural sector. Nevertheless, the small-scale farmers continue experiencing some of the challenges which include access to market information, weather forecast, pest control guidelines and new farming technology. In this project, the design and implementation of an Agricultural Support and Market App, which is a mobile-based application based on Kotlin and Java was designed to deal with such issues. The app provides live weather forecast, information on which crops to plant in relation to the weather condition, how to deal with pests, a digital marketplace which links farmers directly to buyers, financial assistance, and the user will be able to use it in a variety of languages to accommodate an expansive user base. The app can help farmers make informed decisions, minimize crop losses and increase productivity by providing them with the knowledge and their tools based on the application of the mobile technology with the integration of backend services. The project adopts the Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD) methodology and incorporates user-friendly interfaces to ensure accessibility. This system, in the end, also improves farming activities and helps to achieve sustainable development and in the communities of farmers in Nigeria.
