Abstract

The study aims to analyze the design criteria for an ADAPTIVE AND CREATIVE TECH HUB IN THE ENUGU METROPOLIS and propose an architectural structure that nurtures innovation, collaboration, entrepreneurship, and technological advancement within a flexible and sustainable built environment. Innovation spaces are needed to foster new companies, digital entrepreneurs, creative workers, research, and technology-driven businesses, as technology continues to transform economies and societies. The paper investigates the spatial, environmental, technological, and social considerations in the planning and design of modern technology hubs. The extensive literature review, analysis of relevant case studies, site investigation, and architectural design principles highlight key factors, including flexible spaces, a user-centered approach, accessibility, smart building technologies, environmental sustainability, collaborative spaces, and climate-responsive architecture. The results indicate that adaptive design approaches are significant for functionality, creativity, interdisciplinary design, and adaptability to future technological advancements. The proposed design incorporates flex spaces, incubation centers, digital laboratories, conference spaces, recreation spaces, green infrastructure, and smart building systems to create an environment that encourages innovation and is appropriate to the socio-economic and climatic conditions in the Enugu Metropolis. The study reveals that an adaptive and creative tech hub has the potential to drive technological innovation, economic growth, entrepreneurship, and youth empowerment in Enugu State. It thus calls for the use of sustainable design principles, flexible planning, and smart technologies in the planning of future innovation centers in Nigeria.
