Abstract
This study examined influence of TikTok and Instag’ram glamo’rous content on the get ‘rich quick Synd’rome among unde’rg’raduates in Enugu Met’ropolis; thus looking at thei’r exposu’re, attitude towa’rds these contents and how exposu’re to glamo’rous content on the afo’rementioned social media platfo’rms influences thei’r desi’re fo’r quick wealth. A su’rvey ‘resea’rch design was adopted while data we’re collected f’rom 370 ‘respondents selected f’rom Godf’rey Okoye Unive’rsity and the Unive’rsity of Nige’ria, Enugu Campus using a st’ructu’red questionnai’re. Findings f’rom the study ‘revealed that at a mean value of 2.9 students in GOU and UNEC had significant exposu’re to glamo’rous content. The students had at a value of 2.9 displayed a positive attitude towa’rds glamo’rous lifestyles and such exposu’re significantly influenced thei’r desi’re fo’r quick Synd’rome at an ave’rage mean of 2.68. The study concluded that glamo’rous social media content is a majo’r d’rive’r of the get ‘rich quick Synd’rome among unde’rg’raduates. It was ‘recomme nded that unive’rsities int’roduce mandato’ry digital media lite’racy semina’rs to help students c’ritically evaluate online content, and that student affai’rs divisions pa’rtne’r with influence’rs to showcase the ‘real p’rocesses behind online success in o’rde’r to ‘reduce un’realistic wealth expectations.
