Abstract
The aim of this current study was to investigate the impact of employee onboarding on job satisfaction for employees of Michelle Laboratories Ltd., Enugu State (Nigeria). The specific objectives of this study were to investigate whether or not job satisfaction is positively influenced by compliance, clarification, culture, and connection as a result of utilizing onboarding practices. A descriptive survey research design was applied to this study. A total of 120 employees from Michelle Laboratories Ltd. made up the population. Census population was used. Relevant data was collected using structured questionnaires, analysed with descriptive statistical analyses and multiple regression analyses including the use of the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) Version 27. The findings of revealed that when companies do implement structured onboarding practices, they have a positive impact on job satisfaction of employees working for that organization. Compliance-based onboarding practices demonstrated to have a significant positive impact on job satisfaction (β = 0.238, t = 2.931, p = 0.004), clarification-based onboarding practices demonstrated to have a significant positive impact on job satisfaction (β= 0.291, t = 3.296, p = 0.001), cultural-based onboarding practices demonstrated to have a significant positive impact on Job satisfaction (β= 0.209, t = 2.696, p = 0.008), and connection-based onboarding practices were found to be the biggest contributing variable in employee job satisfaction (β = 0.334, t = 3.909, p = 0.000). The study concluded that structured onboarding practices significantly improve employee satisfaction, workplace integration, and organizational commitment. The study recommended that organizations should strengthen onboarding programmes through effective communication, mentorship, cultural integration, and role clarification to improve employee satisfaction and retention.
