Abstract
This study investigated the effect of education tax on the economic growth of Nigeria in 2014 to 2023. Its general objective was to examine the effect of education tax on economic growth of Nigeria whereas the specific objectives were; to examine the effect of education tax on RGDP, to determine the impact of education tax on GNI and to evaluate the impact of education tax on HCD. The time series data were gotten from the Annual Report of the Nigerian Bureau of Statistics, Central Bank of Nigeria’s Statistical Bulletin, the TETFUND annual report, the World Bank Development Indicator and the UNDP Human Development Report. The result of the estimation of three hypotheses utilizing Simple linear regression method shows a significant level of 5%. Simple linear regression technique and OLS are used to test the three null hypotheses by employing EViews version 12.0 in testing of the hypothesis. And an ex-post factor research design. The result showed that education tax had positive and statistically significant influence on all three macroeconomic growth indices tested; RGDP, GNI and HCD. It concluded that education tax has positive and significant influences on the Nigerian economic development and human resource development; thus, the Federal Government should improve its examination and collection system with the aim of having a 100%t tax compliance, the Federal Government should come up with comprehensive human capital policy toward discouraging the issue of the problem of emigration ,and the TETFund disbursing of education tax towards improve educational quality and employability.
