Abstract
This observe explores the effect of Nollywood’s portrayal of actresses on undergraduate students’ attitudes and perceptions closer to girls in Enugu Metropolis, Nigeria. Anchored in Feminist Gender Theory and Representation Theory, the study examines how the illustration of lady characters in Nigerian movies shapes gender norms, identity creation, and societal expectations. Using a survey layout, statistics were collected from 375 undergraduate students of Godfrey Okoye University and the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT). Findings monitor that Nollywood often reinforces stereotypical portrayals of actresses—depicting them as emotionally dependent, domestic, or sexualized figures—which considerably shapes students’ perspectives on girls’ roles and status in society. Students' guide for women's management and empowerment, however, turned into additionally found to be undoubtedly impacted with the aid of depictions of strong female characters. The observer realizes that Nollywood is a potent cultural medium that can uphold and subvert traditional gender ideologies. The merchandising of gender- sensitive storytelling, media literacy inside the classroom, and cooperation between advocacy businesses and filmmakers to enhance the portrayal of girls in Nigerian media are the various hints.
