Abstract

In an educational system, academic performance is of importance to students, parents and teachers. However, students sometimes struggle to meet up in class activities while some battle with some form of anxiety as a result of the same class activities which later affect the students’ academic performance. Hence, this study investigated the impact of Examination Anxiety and Students Study Anxiety on Academic Performance among Students of Godfrey Okoye University Enugu. A total 70 participants were selected for the study within the ages of 17-24 years, with the mean age of 20.5 and standard deviation of 3.5 were selected for the study using purposive sampling technique. The result of this study indicates that there was significant impact of Examination anxiety and Study habit on academic performance using regression analysis at Examination Anxiety (EA) is statistically significant (B = −0.904, t(68) = −25.846, p < .001) and Study Habit (SH) (B = −0.898, t(68) = −23.291, p < .001). Based on the findings of this study, the researcher hereby recommends that There is need to improve study habits of undergraduate students in order to overcome test anxiety and improve their academic achievement and also, Parents should provide books and encourage their wards to study hard; counselors should be employed to counsel students on how to develop study habit; students should be encouraged to do their class and take-home assignments.
