Abstract

Passive daylighting is a process that makes use of systems engineered to allow more light into the building, thus partially reducing the need for mechanical systems. It also allows for investigating miscellaneous architectural elements and design techniques-starting from strategic window placement to the use of atria, and courtyards. It avails site analyses and advanced simulation tools to establish the best solution for a particular set of climatic conditions and cultural center requirements. This research project aims to investigate various design strategies that are visited, cultural center can employ in order to effectively apply principles of passive daylighting for enhanced indoor lighting quality and comfort through minimization of overheating due to increased energy efficiency The main benefits of passive daylighting systems highlighted by the findings of this research include improved indoor lighting, reduced energy use, and compliance with current sustainable building practices. Finally, it puts in the limelight an early integration of passive design principles into projects, the application of sustainable materials, and periodic maintenance services for ensuring that their performance is long-lasting. Next, some of the probable areas of further research in the field in the future can involve new materials and innovative technologies which might extend passive daylighting systems.
