Abstract
In our present generation, which has been dominated by the use of technologies, the use of digital images is a vital part of many application domains and software. With the steady upgrade and innovations in technology, software for doctoring images are being developed, and the speed at which digital images are being doctored is made easier, thereby increasing the rate of doctored images being spread online. Image doctoring is the process of manipulating a digital image, to either hide important information or to output false information for public consumption. The proposed system is aimed at detecting and highlighting the malpractices performed on modern- day digital images using the Python language and its libraries. The system is much different from the machine learning approach as it does not require the training of any dataset. For the design of the system, we adopted the Object-oriented model and the Object-Oriented analysis and Design. The software was implemented using the Python programming language and is dependent on some python libraries like Opencv, numpy, matplotlib and tkinter for smooth image processing and a user-friendly interface. It uses 4 different manipulation detection methods to assist the user in analysing a digital image in jpeg and png formats and producing an accurate output for the detection of manipulation in the uploaded image.
