Abstract
This study examined the management–labour relations and productivity at Intercolor Manufacturing Company, Enugu State, Nigeria. Specifically, the study investigated the influence of communication, collective bargaining, employee participation, and conflict resolution on organizational productivity. The study was anchored on the Human Relations Theory and adopted a descriptive survey research design. The entire population that made up this study was a total of 320 employees of Intercolor Industries Limited from which using Yamane’s formula a sample of 178 respondents were selected and used for the study. Data which were provided for analysis were gathered & collected using a structured questionnaire and the analysis was performed by means of using both qualitative and descriptive statistical data, and also using multiple regression with the aid of SPSS version 25. The findings made from this study showed that communication has positively influenced organizational productivity (β = .318, t = 4.417, p < .05). Additionally, collective bargaining has positively influenced organizational productivity (β = .241, t = 3.544, p < .05). Employee participation has positively influenced organizational productivity (β = .286; t = 3.813; p < .05) and conflict resolution has also contributed to positively influencing organizational productivity (β = .197; t = 2.432; p <.05). Based on these findings, it was concluded that good management-labor relations create an environment in which there will be a harmony at work, increased employee commitment, increased organizational productivity for manufacturing companies, and therefore this study recommended double or extended communication systems, in order to create more transparent collective bargaining processes, provide more avenues for employees to participate in decision making and utilize more effective and efficient methods of conflict resolution to promote sustainable organizational productivity and industrial peace.
