Abstract
Electoral Reforms simply means the deliberate systematic method, technique of ensuring positive changes in the conduct and organization of electoral processes with the aim of ensuring credibility, absence of electoral malpractices, malfeasance, vote buying and the use of thug in electoral processes. Reforms have played a very vital significant role both in pre independent era and post independent evolution. The aim of this research project is to critically analyse the impact of reforms in democratic and electoral process and procedure in Nigeria. Electoral reforms have been made possible and achievable through constitutional provision and amendments to the electoral act over the years, which by virtue of this amendment introduced the use of technological innovation in electoral activities. These innovations include, the use of Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS), INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV), Smart Card Reader etc. Regardless of the impact and development of reforms in electoral activities, it is still fraught with a lot of irregularities which is being witnessed in the way and manner electoral administration are conducted in Nigeria. However, with the reforms put in place, it ensures that the irregularities faced in electoral activities are curbed.
