Abstract
This study investigated the influence of parenting style on social adjustment of undergraduate students in the University of Port Harcourt. The study was an expos-factor design. The sample of this study consisted of 1.533 under graduate student drawing using stratified random sampling technique. Two instruments where used in this study. They are Parenting Style Assessment Scales (SAS), which were developed and validated. Five research questions and five null hypotheses guided the study. The result showed that the parenting style has significant influence on social adjustment of undergraduate students. The result revealed that there is a significant difference on the influence of authoritative style of parenting on social adjustment of male and female undergraduate students. The result also revealed that there is no difference no significant difference on the influence of authoritarian style of parenting on social adjustment of male and female undergraduate students. The result also showed that there is a significant difference on the influence of uninvolved style of parenting on social adjustment of male and female undergraduate students.
