Abstract

Digital libraries are one of the evolutionary creations of ICT integration in library and information service profession which has created a convenient platform for information access and dissemination. This chapter discussed digital libraries as gateway to global information access in Nigeria. It examined the concept and definition of digital libraries showing their potentials in global information access through a comparative analysis of the characteristics of traditional library and digital library. This chapter further discussed the facilities and skills required in operating a digital library. It discussed the factors affecting digital library operation in Nigeria and proffered solution.
