Abstract

The topic of this study is perception of Junior Secondary School Students on difficulties in learning Computer Studies inn Enugu East Local Government Area of Enugu State. The purpose of this study was to find out the perception of Junior Secondary School Students on difficulties in learning Computer Studies inn Enugu East Local Government Area of Enugu State. In the study, three research questions were formulated to explore the study. A descriptive survey research was employed and the major instrument used in collecting data was a structured questionnaire while the population of the study comprised all the Junior Secondary School (JSS 1-JSS III) Students in public (Government-Owned) Secondary Schools in Enugu East L.G.A. According to PPSMB (2017) being last year there was total of Nine thousand seven hundred and thirteen (9713) JSS students in the seventeen (17) Public Secondary in Enugu East L.G.A under which 200 respondents were used for the sample through random sampling. The data was analyzed using mean and standard deviation. The following were among the findings; there are students’ related factors that causes difficulty in learning of Computer Studies, school related factors that cause difficulty in learning of Computer Studies. Based on the findings of the study, the following recommendations were made:- School administrator( Education Secretaries and Principals) should ensure that Computer teachers are sponsored on retraining programme at least twice a year through workshops, seminars and conferences to enable them learn the modern technological skills in their chosen field of endeavour. The school administrators should as a matter of urgency liase with the private sectors to provide Computer and other instructional materials needed for teaching of Computer Studies. Parents and other major stakeholders of our education should assists our Secondary Schools by donating instructional facilities.
