Abstract
Mr. Madu was a married man with five children. Three of them were of school age. He was a tutor in a state secondary school, and owned a motor- cycle which he bought second-hand some years ago. by sheer dint of hard labour. Mr. Madu lived in a common yard with several other low-in-come tenants. The bungalow had two corridors with several single rooms and connecting doors. Tenants shared kitchens, toilets and corridors together. Mr. Madu' s motor -bike was usually parked along the corridor between the two doors leading to his rooms. Inspite of the machine and many other things lined up along the corridors. people still passed by freely without any hindrance. Some of the tenants lived in single rooms, while majority, especially the married ones occupied two rooms or more.
