Abstract

This book presents some of the latest advances in education and recovering a range of teaching, learning, technology and research information. The presentation begins with the rationale for the integration of peace and conflict studies in the secondary school curriculum. This is followed by a discussion on the teaching of psychology in secondary schools. In the second part of the book the authors examine the attitude of students to research. An undergraduate community psychology programme at an American university is presented as a basis for illuminating curriculum studies. Issues surrounding the quality of higher education in Nigeria are discussed in the third part and the authors posit that there is a need for the update of quality assurance instruments and methods in Nigeria. A technology-based teaching and learning method is presented and SMS-based learning is thoroughly assessed. Other issues discussed are: education disability, human rights education, holistic education and interactive teaching. The importance of this work lies in the fact that the subject matters discussed are relevant to education in all continents of the world even though the authors are from only three of the continents: Africa, Europe and North America. The book is recommended for courses in teacher education, secondary and higher education, distance education, online and special education. It is also useful to international students and practitioners.
