Abstract

This paper offers a very insightful study of the crucial role of ancient Israelite prophets during critical moments of national disaster and tragedy. The paper explores the exercise of the mediatorial role of Israelite prophets in nation building, especially with regard to their task to give theological interpretation to the people's experiences in the light of the revealed word of God. In the light of the Nigerian experience, the author advocates for a similar role for Nigerian theologians.
