Abstract

this work takes the reader on an excursus of the Old and New Testaments in order to expose the biblical perspective on spirits, occultism, principalities and powers, a perspective in which the OT testifies to the sovereignty of God over these evil forces and the NT the efficiency of Christ as the solution to their menace. The author sees corollaries between the world of first century Christianity and today's African Christianity, a world characterized by fear of evil forces. The paper ends with a proposal for the adoption of Paul's pastoral strategy of courageous teaching and witnessing as a way of the current menace of these forces of darkness, whether real or imagined.
