Abstract

At family, community and national levels, there is need for peace for meaningful development. Peace is one of the ingredients of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Therefore, there is need for conflict prevention, conflict resolution and rehabilitation of those affected by conflict for peace to return. Drawing from the experience of Nigeria, this study examined the contributions and challenges of accounting in peace building. Descriptive research design was adopted for the study. Findings reveal that accounting contributes to peace building in areas of auditing and taxation amongst others. The study recommends amongst others, financial statement insurance to increase the quality of audit so as to prevent conflict arising from fraud and misstatement.
