Abstract

This study explored the effect of financial market efficiency on Nigeria’s economic development. Annual time series were employed for the period from from1980 to 2018. Using a simple regression model, and financial market depth were used as explanatory variables while gross national income per capita, a proxy for economic development, was the dependent variable. The results show that while financial market efficiency has a significant and positive effect on Nigeria’s economic development, the effect of financial market dept is non-significant and positive.
