Abstract

Having looked at the various definitions of social work, it is instructive that we differentiate between some related concepts in common use with social work. Such concepts as social functioning, social welfare, social services and social security, need to be clarified to bring out their niter-relationship and their differing and distinctive features. This is to overcome the apparent confusion often exhibited by students in the use of these concepts.
